Frequently Asked Questions

  • We’ll first discuss your symptoms and medical history before suggesting a treatment plan tailored to your needs. If we don't think we can help, we'll let you know that too and suggest possible next steps.

We will also demonstrate and explain exactly what we’re going to do, so you’ll know what to expect. We want to work together as a team, so please ask questions any time.

During the treatment, you will lie down on a comfortable table, and ultra-thin needles will be inserted into specific points on your body. Acupuncture needles are are smaller than a cat whisker and insertion is painless. You may feel brief tingly sensations or pressure, but it should not be painful.

Once the points are in, you’ll remain comfortably still for about 15-25 minutes allowing your natural healing response to do it’s job. Most people become deeply relaxed and will often snooze for a bit. Don’t plan major activities immediately afterward until you know how you respond.

It’s a different experience than people imagine. We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how good you will feel.

  • Acupuncture is a therapy that activates healing rather than a one-time procedure like surgery, so following through with the recommended course of treatment is important if you want the best results.

Your general health and rate of response is unique and so are your needs:

Do you need occasional rest and relaxation? Drop in as needed to get centered and refreshed.

Do you need support for a specific health concern? Many conditions respond quickly to a short course of treatments, others may require an intensive care plan, and some chronic issues need on-going management.

Looking to stay well? Monthly care helps keep things running smoothly and strengthens your resilience. Regular visits help you maintain balance and address small issues before they become bigger ones.

  • If you have out-of-network benefits for acupuncture, we can provide you with a receipt that you can submit for possible reimbursement.

Payment is due at the time of service. Cash, check, credit cards, Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flex Spending Account (FSA) accounts are accepted.

Our office does not participate with insurance plans other than the VA. If you are a Veteran, you can request a referral to our office through the VA. Check out www.vacommunitycare.com for more information.

  • In Pennsylvania, acupuncture treatment beyond 60 days for a person who presents with symptoms of a condition requires that a medical diagnosis be obtained from your Medical Doctor.

In other words, don’t use acupuncture to postpone seeing your Medical Doctor about a health problem.
